The Candy Man: A Sweet Shoppe, was founded over 25 years ago and was once known as Werner’s Candy and Gift Shoppe. Mr. Werner, an ex-marine with a lifetime of experience in making delicious handmade candy, ran several stores in the Oregon and Washington coastal areas until he mainly focused on his Long Beach, WA location.
After he retired, the store was purchased by Ralph Moore and Barbara Phillips. The two new owners have added several products to the already robust selection at this quaint Long Beach location. However they have retained the unique recipes, flavor and personality that Mr. Werner instilled so many years ago, along with Matt Matzen who had a deep experience with Werner making the prized confectioneries that captivated the Long Beach area and beyond.
Like Werner, Ralph Moore is a well known figure in the Long Beach community. Serving on city council and owning stores in the area while contributing to local charities, he focuses on ways to enhance the lives of residents both in and out of the county he lives in. He and Ms. Phillips are proud to continue to serve delicious candy to locals, and to customers all over the world who yearn for handmade chocolate, fudge, and saltwater taffy straight from the source.
